The Author and Finisher of our Faith
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
-Hebrews 12:1-2
Let us lay aside every weight – what weighs you down? What are you wasting your life on and allowing to distract you from Jesus?
We cannot afford to have God resisting us – we need His grace and we need to be humbled before Him. This is the essence of Christian life, having the faith that God is the way and the truth and the life. And allowing God to change us into the people that we need to be for Him. That initial change, when we accept Jesus as our Savior is just the beginning. As Christians we are a constant work in progress. Before you say anything to anyone else about their life and their walk, you need to allow God to speak to you.
Like a tree that changes into paper, it takes time and work, and the refining of our lives and souls is not finished until we reach the gates of heaven. Do not forget that the trials and tribulations that you go through, that the changes to your heart and soul, are part of the process. Sometimes it is a reminder that we are not without God. What you allow God to do in your life now, you will carry with you to eternity. Keep your eyes on Jesus because He will get you through to the end.
The only question that remains is: are you willing?
