Basic Stewardship

Basic Stewardship

The earth is the Lord’s fullness, the world and those who dwell therein.”

-Psalm 24:1

Everything belongs to God and what we do with it matters. We all have different talents, gifts, and things we can give to God and we are accountable for what we have done with those things when we stand before God.

Are you a profitable servant of God?

A profitable servant builds God’s kingdom instead of our own.  This does not mean that you cannot have things or that you cannot gain wealth, it means that we are using our blessings to further the kingdom of God.

Do you have an earthly mindset?

An earthly mindset looks at all you have earned or been blessed with as yours and only yours, with nothing belonging to God. A biblical mindset looks at all you have earned or been blessed with as something that is useful to God.

We are just a steward in God’s plan. A steward both enjoys the things that they have earned and been blessed with AND offers it all to God.

How are you choosing to live?

Anything that doesn’t honor God or Bless Him is useless. Books, television, music, even a house without God is useless.  How are you using the things that you are blessed with to be useful to God?

Remember today that we are to find our identity in the Lord and what you know and understand about him, not what you know and understand about the world. To God, you and your relationship with Him is more valuable than the sum off all the things that you have and have made. Invest in Him.

“Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:

But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord.”

Jeremiah 9:23-24
